Troubleshooting custom logger on Apache Cassandra 2.1

Troubleshooting an external logger into Apache Cassandra 2.1

As of Cassandra 2.1, logback is the favored logging facility which extends on log4j features.  See Configuring logging for further details.

Logback allows for customized loggers to be defined on DSE configuration file: logback.xml.  In order to enable debugging on how logback is being initialized, please add the following to /etc/dse/cassandra/cassandra-env.sh

 JVM_OPTS="$JVM_OPTS -Dlogback.debug=true"

Then restart DSE and monitor /var/log/cassandra/output.log for any related issues to a custom logger
