*** Software licenses required to continue using the Oracle runtime in OpsCenter LCM ***
*** DSE 5.0.x will reach its End of Service Life on June 5th, 2019 ***
Attention: Software licenses required to continue using the Oracle JVM runtime.
In accordance with the end of public updates for Oracle JDK 8, if you wish to continue using an Oracle JVM you will need to acquire the necessary software licenses from Oracle.
Over the past 12 months, Datastax has carried out extensive testing against the OpenJDK in order to ensure our customers have a choice of vendor. There are currently no impediments to using a TCK Certified OpenJDK with DSE.
If you are using OpsCenter Life Cycle Manager (LCM) to install your JVM, then as of 6.7.0 and later release it is possible to install either the OpenJDK runtime or the Oracle runtime. See the LCM documentation on choosing a Java Vendor for details.
DSE 5.0 End of Service Life effective June 5th, 2019.
DataStax Enterprise (DSE) version(s) 5.0.x will reach End of Service Life (EOSL) June 5th, 2019. Note that DSE 5.0.x reached its End of Life (EOL) on December 5th, 2018 and this six (6) month proactive notification is sent to ensure that you have adequate time to migrate from DSE 5.0.x into a current and supported release.
For additional information on the DataStax End of Life (EOL) and End of Service Life (EOSL) policy, please review the DataStax Support Policy found here. Until the EOSL (and provided you have a current Subscription to Support), if you identify a defect in a Major Release that has reached EOL, DataStax will evaluate fixing the defect in a release that has not reached EOL. After the EOSL, DataStax will not support, in any way, a Major Release and/or any Minor Releases of that Major Release.
Prior to making an upgrade decision and/or executing an upgrade, please make sure to read all the instructions. This is a time when careful review of the upgrade instructions will make a difference.
By understanding what to do beforehand, you can ensure a smooth upgrade and avoid pitfalls and frustrations. If you have any questions we are here to help.
DSE OpsCenter 6.0.x Not Supported as of June 5th, 2019
Be advised that DSE OpsCenter 6.0.x will not be supported as of June 5th, 2019. As the compatibility matrix shows - the versions of DSE that are supported by Opscenter 6.0 will have reached EOSL at that point. There have been many improvements in DSE Opscenter since 6.0 such as the new Restore Mechanism, LCM Upgrade Service, NodeSync Service, and an improved Repair Service. We strongly recommend that you upgrade as soon as possible to take advantage of the updates.
